(February 2008) - On Monday, February 4, 2008, at 11:00am, Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital will serve as host for a special “Thank-You” reception. The greater Orange community will use this opportunity to honor Congressman Kevin Brady, representing the 8th District in Texas - which includes Orange County. Serving his 6th term of office, Congressman Brady has worked diligently to keep the priorities of Orange County front and center in Washington.
In recognition of the accomplishments for Orange County, Congressman Brady will be honored with a reception from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital, 3rd Floor-New Tower. Acknowledgement of the impact Congressman Brady has made on the Orange Community will be highlighted by, Rosanne Akin, Administrator of the Orange Hospital, Larry David, representing the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation, Bobby Fillyaw, Executive Director, Orange Economic Development and Mary McKenna, Executive Director, Southeast Texas Hospice.
The reception is designed to highlight Congressman Brady's accomplishments in Orange County which include:
- Nearly $500 million in Hurricane Rita recovery
- Port of Orange $500,000 for Intermodal Project - which will allow for better rail infrastructure to move goods and materials to and from the port's customers and consumers
- Roundtable with federal law enforcement bringing attention to the pain management “clinic” and prescription drug abuse in our region
- Continued work with local leaders to work on transitioning the Navy Reserve Center through the BRAC process into a property that will fulfill the community's vision for premier river front property
- The dollars required to allow for Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital to acquire the CT scan we are celebrating today. Congressman Brady has also secured an additional $600,000 for a new MRI for the hospital.
Congressman Brady's work in our capital has translated into meaningful change for our community and impacted real lives. Congressman Brady as well as the above mentioned speakers will be available for comment and/or questions.
