Memorial Hermann Welcomes Students from Regina Howell Elementary
BEAUMONT - (January 14, 2008) - As part of Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital's continuing partnership with Regina Howell Elementary School through BISD's Partners in Education program, the hospital will host the “Positive Points” program on Monday, January 14, at 10:30am in the Cypress-Magnolia Room.
The “Positive Points” program, in conjunction with BISD's School/Business Partnership, is for third, fourth and fifth grade students who are awarded points from his/her teacher based on positive behaviors. These positive behaviors may consist of random acts of kindness, courtesy toward others, good listening skills and respect for adults. Two students in each class who receive the most points are awarded a field trip to the hospital.
During the students' visit to the hospital, they will enjoy a pizza party, make a special personalized gift and then distribute the gifts to the patients. “This is a program designed to encourage children to give rather than to receive,” said Marketing Director, Mary Poole. “The focus is on the student's positive contribution to their fellow students, home and community.”
Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital is proud to be a part of this program, which is instrumental in helping young people develop more positive attitudes toward school and academic achievement. “Each one of these students has a very special gift to share and that is the gift of giving,” said Poole. “We plan to continue this program throughout each year to encourage other students to display positive behaviors.”
